Old Temple of Athena

Old Temple of Athena

Athens, Greece

This temple is one of the buildings beyond the parthenon that catches your eye while on the acropolis. The tree was planted to replace the original olive tree that was found at the site in around 3000 BCE, when the first inhabitants reached the acropolis. I think there were more buildings on the Acropolis, however Medieval towers and other buildings that were later removed had replaced them for a while. The parthenon itself was used for many different things during the course of its existance.
